EPACTL is the Complete Solution
Applaud's integrated EPACTL tools offer the only complete solution. ETL tools provide only half of the solution - in fact, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) is the easy half - PAC (profile, analyze, cleanse) is significantly more difficult.
With Applaud, the project begins by extracting data from the source system and building components for profiling and analysis. The results of the profiling and analysis become the basis for the transformation and data mapping specifications (i.e., instead of guessing at the rules for the transformation and mapping based on out-of-date documentation, the specifications are based on the actual data content and the actual data structure). Accurate mapping specifications provide a foundation for success.
Cleansing components are constructed based on data issues discovered during the profiling and analysis phase. Applaud provides a comprehensive suite of cleansing tools, including robust name/address cleansing and CASS certification.
Transformation components are defined as the data mapping specifications are established. Additional analysis components are quickly created to validate the results of cleansing and transformation. Load components are developed to load the data into the target system tables directly or to populate flat files for subsequent load procedures.
Features Can Include Any Combination of EPACTL Components
The importance of fully integrated EPACTL tools cannot be over emphasized. Integrated tools enable features in the solution to include any combination of multiple components. For example, a single feature in an Applaud solution may include components to extract data, profile the data, analyze the data, cleanse the data, transform the cleansed data, provide additional analysis to ensure that the cleansing and transformation were accurate, and also load the data into the target system.
